A gallery exhibition space in William Street, Darlinghurst, Sydney.
High traffic, visible location on William Street in the Darlinghurst gallery hub area. Near King Street on William Gallery, Watters Gallery, Stanley Street Gallery and Conny Dietzschold Gallery. Close to the CBD, the Australian Museum, Hyde Park and on major public transport routes. Large open space with high ceilings, located on street level with double windows to the street. Flexible space easily adapted for group, solo shows or easily divided into two distinct gallery spaces.
Exhibition space with approximately 36 m of wall hanging space with a ceiling height of 3.6 m and a possible hanging height of 3.1 m. Hanging system provided with wires and hooks. Movable track lighting system allows for flexible hanging.
Within the space there are two double-sided movable walls which can be positioned side by side or on either side of the gallery, making it possible to have two separate exhibitions running concurrently. Ladder for assisting hanging/demounting also available. Nails can sometimes be used, but all holes need to be filled by the Sunday evening at close of exhibition to allow time for touch up painting. Some plinths (4+ of various sizes) available by request, talk to us about your requirements. Movable desk and chairs, kitchenette facilities, small storage area and W.C.
Gallery Hours of Business
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 12:00 – 6:30 pm
Saturday and Sunday 12:00 – 5:00 pm
(These are the standard/website listed hours, other days and longer hours for rental shows are permissible, by negotiation with the gallery prior to opening of exhibition)
Installation and Removal of Exhibition Guidelines
Exhibitions usually run from Wednesday to Sunday, with opening night generally held on Wednesdays.
Hanging will be completed in consultation with gallery management on Monday afternoon or Tuesday prior to opening. Lights to be moved by gallery staff.
The exhibition should vacated from the exhibition space on Sunday evening before 8 pm or by Monday noon at the latest.
The gallery is covered for public liability but insurance for artworks is the responsibility of the artist.
Exclusive rental of the space is $1600 per week plus GST with a minimum rental period of two weeks, no commission.
Applications for solo and group exhibitions considered. Suitable for emerging and established artists who require minimal assistance. The artist is responsible for curating and hanging the exhibition (with consultation with the gallery staff). Exhibitors are responsible for all exhibition promotion, organising opening night, organising payment facilities, staffing the gallery during opening hours and the removal of artworks at the close of show.
A deposit of 30% is payable on receipt of invoice, this non refundable deposit will confirm your booking. A further 30% is payable two months prior to exhibition with the final balance due two weeks before rental start date.
The gallery may be able to assist with staff to sit the space (minimum 3 hours) at an hourly rate or for the duration of the exhibition by commission (in addition to the rental fee), contact the gallery for further information.
